Summer Wellbeing
Summer is a time to pause, reflect, and recharge. It offers a unique opportunity to prioritise wellbeing, both for individuals and organisations. With longer days and (hopefully) warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to embrace activities that boost mental health, foster relaxation, and enhance productivity. Are you ready to focus on summer wellbeing?
Key Events
- July – Disability Pride Month and International Friendship Day (30th July) encourage inclusivity and connection. Celebrate with workshops on accessibility and community-building activities.
- August – Happiness Happens Month reminds us to focus on joy. Incorporate gratitude practices or host a “Happiness Wall.”
- September – National Inclusion Week (23rd–29th September) and World Gratitude Day (21st September) inspire kindness and inclusion.
Practical Actions
- Host a mid-year wellbeing goal setting workshop.
- Encourage peer recognition and gratitude exercises to build morale.
- Encourage Outdoor Activities – Spending time outdoors can significantly improve mood and reduce stress. Suggest simple initiatives like outdoor meetings, wellbeing walks, or team picnics to reconnect with nature and colleagues.
- Hydration and Nutrition Awareness – With the warmer weather, it’s essential to stay hydrated and eat light, nutritious meals. Share tips or organise workshops on summer nutrition to keep your team energised.
- Summer Wellbeing Challenges – Consider hosting a summer wellbeing challenge to engage and motivate your team.
- Begin planning for year-end initiatives with input from employees.
